BLE Smart lets you scan, connect and browse nearby Bluetooth smart devices.

+ Scan for Bluetooth Low Energy Devices
Favorite devices that you’re interested in, then change to view them on the Favorites screen. Use the Refine button to enable filter and sorting options. It cuts out all the “noise” found in busy bluetooth environments so that you can concentrate on just the peripheral devices of interest.

+ Visual Indicators
A Received Signal Strength Indicator ( RSSI ) visually helps you gauge if the device distance is Unknown, Far, Near, or Immediate. You have the option to tweak the RSSI calculation interval, and choose how to normalise the RSSI value with either a median or average calculation.

+ Peripheral Advertisement Data
Explore the Advertisement Data that the Peripheral is transmitting. View if the Device is Connectable, the Local Name, the Manufacturer Specific Data. BLE Smart matches the Company Identifier against 1355 known Company Identifiers.

+ Peripheral Services and Characteristics
Once you’ve found your device of interest, Connect to better understand its advertised Services and Characteristics. If prompted, you can pair with your device which will often then give you greater access to inspect your peripheral.

Communication is based on a Client - Server type relationship.

A Peripheral (the Server) can hold just about any type of information ( Attribute Value ) such as sensor values, the state of a light, temperature values, heart rate, battery status, position data, or simply a message that says, “Bluetooth Low Energy is amazing.”

+ Characteristics | Generic Attribute Profile (GATT)
The concept of GATT Characteristics is to group attributes into a defined and specific, logical order. There is a large list of them which include some common ones like Alert Level, Battery Level, Date Time, Device Name, Firmware Revision String, Latitude, Longitude, Serial Number String.

BLE Smart has embedded intelligence to help explore Characteristics and values down to an individual GATT Characteristic Value Field level.

+ BLE Smart Logging
BLE Smart logs key Bluetooth Low Energy status and event information in an easily sharable text file. When you are ready to start a new debugging session you can erase the log to start over.

A Resource library section inside the app contains information about Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy, the Bluetooth Stack, List of Bluetooth Protocols and a List of Bluetooth Profiles.
